Welcome Guide
Everything Closebud does, in about two minutes.
There's not much to learn — tap one button and you get a distance-sorted list. This covers the rest: filters, favorites, reviews, and what to do when GPS won't cooperate.
Finding shops
- Tap "Locate me" Your browser will ask permission to share your location. Closebud uses it on your device to sort shops by distance — it never leaves your phone.
- Read the list Shops come back nearest-first. Each card shows the distance, a compass bearing so you know which way it is, and the city.
- Tap the distance That opens directions in Google Maps. Tapping anywhere else on the card opens the shop's details and reviews.
- Filter by type The chips above the list narrow results — storefront, delivery, and so on. Only types that exist in your results are shown.
- Show more The list starts at 15 shops. "Show 15 more" extends it as far as you want.
No GPS? Drop a pin instead
If you deny location access or your browser can't get a fix, Closebud offers a short list of cities. Picking one sorts shops from that city's center. Useful for planning a trip before you're there.
Accounts
You can use Closebud completely without an account — finding shops and reading reviews needs nothing. An account only adds two things: saving favorites and writing reviews.
Sign up with an email address and password from the account icon in the top corner. Your account stores your email, a display name, your favorites, and any reviews you write. Nothing else.
Google sign-in is temporarily unavailable. It's hidden rather than shown as a broken button. Email and password work normally. See the changelog for status.
Favorites
Tap the heart on any shop card to save it. Hearts fill in immediately and sync to your account, so the same list is there on your laptop and your phone.
Your saved shops live in the dashboard — the account icon in the top corner once you're signed in. Each one shows how far away it is from wherever you are now, so a favorites list built in one city stays useful when you travel.
Reviews
Open any shop and you'll see its rating and reviews. Reading them requires no account. Writing one does.
- Pick a rating from one to five stars, then write what someone should know.
- One review per shop per person. Posting again updates your existing review instead of adding a second one.
- Your display name appears on your reviews. Your email never does — change your name any time in the dashboard.
- Reviews are public. Edit or delete yours from the dashboard whenever you want.
Reporting a review
Signed-in users get a Report link under each review. Reports go to a queue only the maintainer can read; they aren't public and the review's author isn't told who reported it. Reviews that break the Terms get hidden or removed.
When something looks wrong
Shop data comes from state regulators and lags reality. A shop may have closed, moved, or changed hours since the state last published its list. Call before you drive.
If a listing is wrong, missing, or a shop has closed, email mybasementgrow@gmail.com and it'll get fixed in the next data update.
Closebud is informational. It doesn't sell cannabis and doesn't verify your age for any shop — bring ID. Cannabis remains illegal under U.S. federal law regardless of state licensing.
